§ Yasunori Mitsuda
The composer behind the games Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Yasunori was only 22 while working on Chrono Trigger's compositions, but even under pressure he still made masterpieces with just the SNES sound module. His songs were young and fresh, but still unforgettable pieces that continue to captivate audiences till this day. Even today, there are an unceasing number of people who are strongly devoted to his trademark "Chrono Sound". An arranged version of ten Chrono Trigger tracks was composed by him, called "The Brink Of Time". However, the various music styles and instrument choices were too alien for the game fans and this album recieved mixed reviews. For the Chrono Trigger re-release game on Playstation, tracks were slightly remixed as they were now on the Playstation sound module. Also, 9 newly orchestrated tracks, special for the anime video cutscenes were made. Mitsuda wasn't involved in arranging these songs, but Tsuyoshi Sekido, who also composed the music for Musashi-den (Brave Fencer Musashi) did, and they stayed true to the original image. The Chrono Cross soundtrack was also composed by Yasunori. However, he reused quite a few of his old tracks from Radical Dreamers, the first sequel to Chrono Trigger (only on Satella-View for SuperFamicom). The game itself also mirrors many facets of Chrono Cross. By listening to the soundtrack while playing, one can tell that Yasunori's skills, confidence and experience have developed beyond what was already excellence.
